My name is Igor Shteynberg. I am a Feldenkrais practitioner. If you are here, you are probably interested in learning more about this practice.

These words by founder Moshe Feldenkrais describe the essence of the method:

Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process, and you improve the quality of life itself.

Nothing is permanent about our behavior patterns except our belief that they are so.

What you truly learn best will appear to you later as your own discovery.

Answers to some basic questions about the method:

What can the Feldenkrais Method do for me?

It can help you move more easily and feel better. It can help with concrete things like neck pain or back pain and increase range of motion and improve posture and balance. Physical improvements translate into feeling better emotionally, which means enjoying life more, feeling happier, sleeping better and thinking more clearly.

What are the advantages of the method?

The process is simple, enjoyable and effective. The Feldenkrais process focuses on helping learning unfold naturally and leads to lasting improvements.

If I don’t understand how the Feldenkrais Method works, can I still benefit from it?

Yes, you can benefit from the method. Since movement and learning to move are largely unconscious, conscious understanding is not required to learn. When we were babies, we didn’t think about learning; we learned simply by exploring movement. If you are willing to consider that exploring movement can help you move and feel better, then it’s worth giving the Feldenkrais Method a try even if you don’t understand how the change happens. Let your own experience be the proof.
